Mission: Moonwalk Information Sheet

Thank you for your interest in Mission: Moonwalk. We are really excited to be working with you and the your students.

The mission of Mission: Moonwalk is to inspire a culture of physical activity in Lincoln's elementary school children. EFP is committed to this project because we want all of Lincoln's elementary students to be more active and healthy.

Mission: Moonwalk Implementation:

Who is involved?

Executive Champion: Marybell Avery, Ph.D. Curriculum Specialist for Health, Physical Education, & Character Education

A maximum of 25 Elementary Schools - 22 have chosen to participate so far 2-3 EFP Student Liaisons per school

How does this work?

Mission: Moonwalk Goal: To accumulate physical activity "miles" in order to walk to the moon. 10 minutes of moderate physical activity outside of a PE classroom counts for 1 mile toward our goal. Total Miles: 252,088

How do we accumulate miles?

1. Survey Statistics: At home activities as self-reported by students in PE classrooms (data collected by EFP liaisons)

2. Mission: Moonwalk Days & Activities as led & tracked by EFP Liaisons

3. Optional: Teacher Reported - Additional physical activities done in classrooms without EFP (before recess, before or after lunch, beginning or end of day)

Mission: Moonwalk Teacher Involvement:

What do we want from you as staff members?
